OZJET SERVICES TO PALMERSTON NORTH

27 March, 2008
OzJet announces with regret that due to recent merger talks which are nearing completion it is unable at this time to commence operations as envisaged on the 31st March 2008.

OzJet's CEO Willie O'Neill says " The potential for Trans Tasman services and the opportunities that the Manawatu connection presented was first class and it regrettable that we can not move forward at this time ".

OzJet has worked closely with a number of key stakeholders in New Zealand including the Palmerston North International Airport company, Destination Manawatu and Palmerston North City Council and a number of other organisations. Planning for the new services was well advanced and there will be disappointment with this sudden change of plan which has been driven by events beyond the control of any one party.

All Passengers booked on OzJet services to and from Palmerston North will be fully refunded. OzJet regrets the disruption to these customers and the travel community in New Zealand that has supported their new service.

I've heard it might be Virgin Blue that's buying them out...

Based on comments attributed to Palmerston North Airport CEO Garry Goodman, I believe it is Air Nauru.

Just out of interest and speaking in hypotheticals... What would DJ want with OzJets 732's?

Surely that goes against their principles..

Have any airlines suspended trading on their shares in the last few days? This, I would assume would enlighten many of us as to who the potential suitor might be?

Ozjet are stopping all ops at the end of the week out of Perth. Skywest are going to be taking over the PER-Bali flights that Ozjet were doing. Not sure on the Derby run. Aparently Stoddart has pulled the pin and ozjet has been bleeding rather bad lately. Rumor is that Air Naru have purchased some of the airline.

Will that effect the Norfolk air services?

Might create a problem for the miners getting upto Derby..

Either National Jet or Skywest will pick up the slack as they are the only ones in Perth with big enough capacity and space capacity. I do believe it is the whole OZjet operation, so I would dare say yes to Norfolk.

I do believe that Our Airline will take up the Norfolk Run.

It would seem that TOLL maybe in the mix - to get a 737 AOC to run freight and related to the jetcraft buy out..

I heard two operators are looking at Ozjet operations

1. - Toll as mentioned
2. - Another carrier based in Australia who are looking at an 737 AOC and the charters to Norfolk etc are favourable to them?

From what I know Ozjet are still operating until a buyer is found therefore ops will not shut down [although I have been wrong before!]
