I think I've done one of these before but can't find it.
Whilst not particularly exciting, considering the popularity of vintage YSSY photos in the recent past, it may interest some on here to see the international arrivals on this day 30 years ago - 9th June 1981.
Some of us can only guess what wonderful aircraft operated these flights, anything from DC-8's to early B747s. Some of us on the other hand were fortunate enough to travel on enough of them ;)
Many of the QF flights are instantly recognisable and were most likely exactly the same as today, only with a few extra stops.

No I don't, but as I said in my first post I expect many would mirror their equivalent flight numbers today, only some with more stops.

06:09 QF2 (Now LHR-BKK-SYD)
06:15 QF28 Possibly HKG-SYD as a prelude to today's QF128
06:52 BA11

07:30 JL771 (Now NRT-SYD)
08:36 QF12 (Now LAX-SYD)
08:50 CO1 Possibly LAX-HNL-SYD
08:58 SQ21A Likely SIN-SYD

SA280 was JNB-PER-SYD
BA11 (is now BA9) but in those days (747-200) they had at least one or two extra stops.
QF12 in those days was most likely LAX-Papeete-Sydney (which I did in 1987) or LAX-HNL-SYD.
For info I flew on BA11 in 1972 (10 pound Pom) on G-AWNJ (B747-100) Heathrow-Frankfurt-Beirut-Tehran-Bangkok-Hong Kong-Darwin-Sydney.
So a few of these stops would have been dropped.

QF30 would have been DPS-SYD in those days.
All the QF flights would have been 747's as it was an all 747 airline in 1981.

Hi...
I think EW169 is probably East-West Airlines flight between Norfolk Island and Sydney.

For info I flew on BA11 in 1972 (10 pound Pom) on G-AWNJ (B747-100) Heathrow-Frankfurt-Beirut-Tehran-Bangkok-Hong Kong-Darwin-Sydney.
In 1970 it was BA722 and went :
Heathrow-Zurich-Rome-Karachi-Calcutta-Singapore-Darwin-Sydney on a B707
Although I think the route varied depending on what day of the week it was.
In 1972 my family were subload as staff and were sent LHR-FCO on BA then FCO-THR-BKK on AF then BKK-SIN on SU (IL-62:)) and finally SIN-SYD MEL on AZ. (but I am moving from the topic, sorry)

There is a big gap with no arrivals from 10.02 to 16.30. Shows it was so much quieter back then than today's busy Sydney schedule.

Well I remember flying from LHR to BNE back around 1982 on Qantas, and absolutely sure we stopped in Bombay and Perth on the way through... was this once the routing of the QF51/52 variant? We definitely didn't stop in Singapore. Can also remember stopping in Muscat on one of my journeys to London, maybe that was on BA? I certainly remember that BA, United and Continental all served Brisbane direct when I started out in the travel industry back at the end of the 80's... they used to end off every day at the old international terminal. Ah the age of hot towels and no IFE, when flying had a little grace... and no Ryanair

This is quite a good website for looking at old schedules.

This page is specific to Sydney as of 1 July 1983.

See the bottom of the page for another link to the "Detailed Sydney flight schedules".
Good nostalgia.

QF 7 and QF 8 for a period operated BNE/PER/BOM/LHR and return. QF 51 and 52 have always operated BNE/SIN and return.
