The body is grey?

Ash W 13th August 2013 05:54 PM

I thought it was silver actually! Point though grey, white, silver, whatever we all know what Joe was saying.

From what I have heard, only white and grey are approved for the laminar flow, but customers can choose other colours at a drag penalty.

I think you will find the requirement, or more to the point recomendation for white or grey applies to the engine cowling, not the body, which is what was being disucssed. Something to do with paint thickness and as you mentioned laminar flow.

Yeah that's right Ash, from what I've read it's about the engine cowling and it's the number of coats required to get the darker colours like BA blue, makes the paint layer thicker obviously and disrupts the laminar flow.

Yeah I was talking about the engines, I didn't mean the colours for the body.
