Skywest To Head East?
According to their official Twitter page, an announcement will be made this week regarding a new east coast destination.
Anyone want to take a punt? Return to Melbourne? Mining flight to Brisbane? Leisure flights to Sydney? Cheers |
They could start a PER-OOL service with the F100, would it have the range or would it need a re-fuel enroute?
Whatever they do, It will be with an A320.
Maybe take on QF with Karratha-Brisbane, with a DJ codeshare. |
An F100 cannot do direct PER-BNE, PER-OOL PER-SYD or KTA-BNE.
A PER-BNE or OOL via AYQ would be good. But I think it will be MEL. |
Could be any of PER/KGI/KTA/BME to any of ADL/MEL/SYD/BNE really couldn't it?
cant see how any of those are possible with an F100 maybe they are going to do a deal with Strategic to use their A320 whilst it's not flying to Derby?

The City of Kalgoorlie Boulder has an incentive to any airline that flies to the Eastern States direct from KGI. QFLink are already doing PER-KGI-ADL-KGI-PER on Sunday and Tuesdays. The City waives the taxes associated with these flights. Im not sure if the incentive can be provided for 2 airlines at once but if it is Im sure there could be a stop from KGI on the list. Never know they might run PER to Canberra as this is least frequented by QF and DJ and also carries a lot of Politicial movements. Or the Gold Coast -Alice market? We will have to wait and see hey?
I am thinking a Pilbara port is more likely. They only pulled out of KGI-MEL 12 months ago due to poor loadings, so a return there would have to be unlikely...
I stand corrected, Melbourne is now appearing on the website, ex Kalgoorlie, from 5/2/2010...
There was a dead giveaway a few fridays ago in the aviation part of the Australian when John Holland asked for F100 lames ??? at Tulla.
With an aircraft down time of 48 hours in Melbourne, That means a crew get plenty of rest??? and maybe a footy game or 2? Would there be a couple of flights on the east coast that the F100 will be put to good use for?
Ambitious plans to come east considering the massive downturn in revenue they experienced this year?
Its amazing the route did not work before so they gave it up. Now they try it again I wonder what has happened to lead them to this decision?
Skywest will be obtaining an A320 in July ex Tiger Singapore.
So where they will go with that is any ones guess....... |
Some Pilbara minesites have been in discussion i believe, as well as some international destinations.

a few things are happening in ADL, aparently as a diversion port for these F100's. |
Interesting to note where he got that from. Skywest have mentioned that they are not even getting an A320!
He may have got it from Wikipedia, I remember reading it there about a year ago too. But this is not a reliable source for such information
I don't recall Skywest saying anywhere Bruce that they were not getting an A320...just a press release refusing to speculate on what they were doing...

wow! Thanks for posting the pic - looks fantastic.
Yes thats one nice A320 there. Has it come from an english operator as its still in its G rego. So which route would that be deployed on? Maybe they will start Perth-Bali flights and get on the bandwagon with the others. Hope they get a few more be great to see their A320's in BNE, SYD and MEL etc.
yes jarden, it use to be operated by Thomas Cook Airlines.
this particular aircraft has had a quiet long list of operators as shown below http://www.planespotters.net/Product...k-Airlines.php here is another picture http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.p...6805107&nseq=0 |
I must say the Skywest livery looks fantastic on the A320. Love it! Thanks for the pics guys
Geez amazing to think that for 15 years we only had Ansett as an A320 operator and yet in the last 5 or so years Jetstar, Tiger, Skytraders, Strategic and now Skywest....A319, A320 and A321..!!!

This scheme (Airtours) was a regular in Sydney in the mid 1990's when the Airtours 767's used to come in on a weekly basis. |
and another pic with VH-FNC reg and the c/s from my employer. ( 01MAR08 ) Bound for EMA to paint into Skywest c/s.
