Highly unlikely given virgin plan to be all a330 coast to coast next year with only one extra a330 currently planned for delivery. (as far as I'm aware!)

Hey Paul, it is definitely a conversation at work, I have been trying to probe the rumour with only little response. The rumour was that XFA/B were heading for a C or D check and would then be refitted to TT interior/exterior.

I think this is quite likely to happen consider their intended target is JQ.

Thanks mate will try and catch up with you during the week.

Brad Myer 4th November 2013 09:47 PM

If it does happen it would be good news for QF with 2 less VA A330s to compete with.

Ryan K 5th November 2013 08:04 AM

But, it would no doubt hurt JQ.

Grahame Hutchison 5th November 2013 08:59 AM

I flew on the VA A330 service Sydney-Perth return a couple of weeks back, and was quite impressed with the product. Drink & Meal Service both ways was good, and slightly different IFE on each aircraft (one with a much larger screen). Leg room in the two seats by the window was quite reasonable as well.

I think Jetstar is a way better airline and brand than Tigerair is (thanks to Tiger Airways).

Virgin will need to pull Tigerair's socks up for them, if that tacky little airline were to become capable of hurting Jetstar. At the moment they couldn't harm a fly.

You need more than an A330 in order to be a successful and respected airline.

Tell the load factors that moving up on average to ~90/95%

My understanding is Tigerair has just overtook Jetstar ever so slightly in a independent preferred budget airline poll.

My last Jetstar experience was rubbish, literally. Both tiger airways flights i've taken were amazingly professional (minus reclining seat on second flight ***first world problems***).

Tiger are taking delivery of another a320 next month!

Correct, VHVNR is due next month. At the end of the day they are LCCs, whether you are either going to have a good experience or a bad one(whether self inflicted or othwise) you pay for what you get.

There are a lot more improvements to come in the near future for TT.

NathanJ 6th November 2013 07:18 AM

Onwards and upwards!!!

David Heath 9th November 2013 08:54 PM

I've had no issues with JQ or tiger (before or after grounding). Although nothing exceeded my expectations of an LCC more than Air Asia. That operates beautifully.

Lukas M 11th November 2013 10:33 AM

Looking good!

Notice how it's a deeper yellow now, if you compare the winglet to the tail. Spotted the other day that VNC (think it was VNC anyway) had the darker tail as well - stuck out clearly among the other 'traditional' tiger fins.

JamesL 19th November 2013 06:34 PM

Yes, it is definitely dark when you put VNQ or any aircraft next to VNC

Lukas M 30th November 2013 09:59 AM

VH-VNR due in a week with the new colours

Thought it may have had sharklets :(

D-AVVO has had a colourful past! Ex Easyjet & Frontier!

Patrick Malseed 4th December 2013 08:41 AM

Nathan your information is incorrect. rego D-AVVO is actually a test registration owned by Airbus and allocated to the airframe before the customer accepts transfer of legal title. D-AVVO is from a basket of "test" regos used by Airbus Hamburg. You will see this rego pop up on future build airframes.

Steve S... 2 4th December 2013 09:14 AM

Correct VH-VNR is line number 5900 and brand new.

Max C 4th December 2013 10:00 AM

Apparently a Tiger announcement in BNE as I type...

Possibly a Base?
Expansion?

BAC are holding a press conference about their INTL revamp.

This is the last one delivered with the wingtip fence for the company. Next one is 9V-TRN for Tiger Singapore and it has sharklets.

Radi K 7th July 2014 10:07 AM

The transfer of VA A330s to Tiger Australia is gaining momentum. I think you might see an announcement soon.

Max C 7th July 2014 10:59 AM

I did hear the other day that the first 2 A330's are leaving VA when the next 2 new ones arrive.

Yusef D 7th July 2014 11:31 AM

2 A330s out: XFA in Sept 2014, XFB in December.

One A330 in: XFJ in service Sept 2014.

Net loss: one airframe, and I don't think for a moment they're going to Tigerair.

Brad Myer 7th July 2014 04:58 PM

So VA wil be reducing its A330 fleet by one frame?

Do they have anymore on order?

And what flights will be cut or revert to B737 once the reduction occurs?

Rowan McKeever 7th July 2014 05:18 PM

According to a presentation they gave to the Macquarie Investor Conference on 1 May 2013 there will be 8 A330s in fleet at 30 June 2015... there are currently 7, so if XFA and XFB are exiting there must be more on order. I'd suggest the fact this is not reflected on planespotters and other online databases would be due to the line number etc not being public knowledge at this stage.

John C 8th July 2014 08:30 AM

The two ex EK machines won't go to Tiger.

Steve S... 2 8th July 2014 09:41 AM

So is tigerair getting A330's or not?

Mick F 8th July 2014 09:43 AM

Highly unlikely

John C 8th July 2014 01:50 PM

Rowan,

The presentation you spoke of was dated May 13, so over a year ago.

Things have changed a fair bit since then.

There are no more 330's on order and as a result of the withdrawals the fleet will reduce from the seven today to six.

Rowan McKeever 8th July 2014 02:40 PM

Thanks John, wasn't aware they'd cancelled part of their order? When / why did that happen?

John C 8th July 2014 10:52 PM

They didn't cancel any of their order Rowan.

They had 8 airframes planned for 2015, they are removing two (XFA/B) which reduces the fleet to 6.

They currently have 7 airframes in service (A,B,C,D,E,G,H), and the swapping of the September delivery with XFA keeps the fleet at 7 until the removal of B.

Hope that makes sense.

Rowan McKeever 9th July 2014 10:19 AM

Ahh yep yep, I think I get it now! :P So basically that presentation was before they decided to give the ex-EK birds the flick??

John C 9th July 2014 11:44 AM

Exactly, that decision was only made in the last few months

Max C 9th July 2014 05:09 PM

VH-XFJ is currently in production in TLS
