If the rumors are correct that Air New Zealand's next 77W will be in the Crazy About Rugby colours then this is what it will look like hopefully. Can't wait to get this one...
Apollogies if there is already a thread on this.

Shayne G 7th November 2011 01:39 PM

77W ZK-OKP is the latest one built I think, and it is in standard livery. If this does happen it might be on the next aircraft in the rego sequence. It's also interesting they have recently painted a 2nd A320 into this livery wonder why so many aircraft are getting this livery.

Quote:

I doubt we'll ever see it here in Australia if it does happen. They are somewhat elusive, those Air NZ B777W's
Quite the opposite now, ANZ 744s have been basically replaced by ANZ 777s including the 77W for the next few months last time I checked to Sydney. We will see the 77W quite often so if this livery happens it'll almost definately appear in Sydney.

Jaryd stock 7th November 2011 01:43 PM

Maybe Shayne they'll paint the whole fleet considering AB's one the world cup...

Shayne G 7th November 2011 01:59 PM

Yeah Chris, I been trying to catch my last shots of ANZ 744s in pacific swipes livery as there is only one left and came across that. It may change but we will still see 77W in the future.

Jaryd, I'd be more then happy with that! :D I've always had a thing for the 'all black' jets like the old DJ one. The A320s won't come here but the 77W would which would be great.

More Crazy About Rugby Aircraft to Appear.
More Crazy About Rugby liveried aircraft are to appear.

Plausibility rating 9/10.

Airbus A320 ZK-OJR will appear in this livery soon and we understand at lease three regional turboprops plus Boeing 777-300ER ZK-OKR will wear the scheme.

lloyd fox 7th November 2011 02:49 PM

At this stage ZK-OKR is due for delivery around 9-10 jan 2012 into AKL.

For the period of 5feb-18 mar Sundays NZ 119 is planned to be a 77W.No other flights at this time.

BNE at this stage is expected to get at least 40 flights between say 12 jan and 25 march .

and MEL none at this stage. This will all no doubt change.

Looks good - they could replace the 'crazy about rugby' line with something about the team being champions.

Jayden Laing 7th November 2011 06:16 PM

Lets hope they paint the A320 engine cowlings black also. Personally not a fan of the white cowlings.

Shayne G 7th November 2011 06:33 PM

If the 77W ZK-OKR doesn't get black engines I'll be dissapointed...

Ryan Hothersall 7th November 2011 06:56 PM

Crazy about rugby

Is ZK-OJR one of the new domestic A320s?

All I can say is "Stunning"

Jaryd stock 8th November 2011 09:18 AM

I thought rego for 77W was OKQ well thats what i have heard from ANZ's twitter the Beech 1900D's are the three turboprops that will be painted. As regearding rego im happy to be corrected.

Shayne G 8th November 2011 01:52 PM

Air New Zealand: Romeo = Rugby? ;)

Will H 8th November 2011 07:23 PM

No rumours here, folks. Air NZ has announced details (issued last month):

Quote:

A new A320 aircraft due for delivery at the end of the month will be the second of its type to be painted in the airline’s Crazy About Rugby black livery, while the company’s regional airline, Eagle Air, will be painting three of its existing fleet of Beech 1900D turbo-props black early next year.

However, the biggest all black paint job is being saved for Air New Zealand’s fifth and final Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to be delivered to the airline in January next year. This is the longest aircraft in Air New Zealand’s fleet and it’s believed it will be the largest ever commercial aircraft to sport an all black livery.

Too right. That's what I call a"Logo Jet" Awesome!

Shayne G 13th December 2011 11:45 PM

The aircraft should be ZK-OKQ like suggested by Jaryd.

The airframe has been manufactured:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/3861984...1275/lightbox/

Interestingly the special livery requires 14 expert painters at Boeing working in shifts 24 hours a day to get the job done. This is expected to take about a week to complete.

I'm not sure when the B77W will be rolled out in the new livery, have heard could be as early as this week.

She should also have her first flight around New Years.

Sarah C 18th December 2011 08:48 AM

Stunning! NZ should apply it to one aircraft in the rest of thier fleet, a 767 with winglets, 737........looks amazing!

Brian Wilkes 18th December 2011 12:17 PM

Should be there livery for the entire fleet, minus the ruby titles!

lloyd fox 18th December 2011 04:59 PM

Who says Black and White is not colorful.:D

Anthony T 19th December 2011 08:56 AM

In a world of increasingly bland liveries, this NZ 777 is AWESOME!

Ryan Hothersall 1st January 2012 10:17 PM

777

That looks great.

Looked good on the A320, but is even better on the 777.

David Ramsay 14th January 2012 08:04 PM

They have also done a Beech 1900 in the black livery.

Jayden Laing 14th January 2012 09:23 PM

Beech 1900D in the All Blacks Scheme.

http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/as..._on_ground.jpg

Personally, I like it a lot!!

Mike W 14th January 2012 11:06 PM

You can't say it's not unique. I like the paint job on all three of the types with it.

Sarah C 15th January 2012 06:35 AM

The little Beech looks cool too - they should put it on one of each aircraft type.

Mike W 15th January 2012 10:22 AM

Exactly. The 767 with those huge winglets would look fantastic

Oops, it looks like I've contradicted myself. I meant unique to the airline, not one craft.

David N 17th January 2012 08:07 AM

Looks very cool indeed,

Tauranga is having an Airshow on the 28 & 29th
Hopefully one of the B1900 will make an appearance, even better if it's used for my flight home. :)

I read in the In-Flight Magazine on my way down to Tauranga this morning that 6 Aircraft will be painted and they are....

B777 x 1
A320 x 2
B1900 (Eagle Airways) x3

Regards
David

Just a quick heads up to any Brisbane spotters who havnt sdeen the All Blacks 777 yet, It is on its way as ANZ 135.

Jamie D 27th April 2012 11:02 PM

I just saw a photo of OKQ on Airliners.net, what is happening with the paintwork? its looking a bit worse for wear

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Air-N...9ER/2097010/L/

Brian Wilkes 27th April 2012 11:06 PM

Nothing wrong with it cos the paints black those white markings are where the different sensor, door locks and other goodies are located.

Lee G 27th April 2012 11:07 PM

Not rough - that's all the signage for the hold operation and the like - still looks pristine!

Grahame Hutchison 5th June 2012 12:41 PM

Not sure if this has been posted,
VIDEO: All Black 777-300 Hops to Wellington And Wanaka

The aircraft then did a fly past at Warbirds over Wanaka event.

Mike W 6th June 2012 06:34 PM

Wow, great plane on an awesome day in Wellington. The city gets a bad rap for its bad weather but when it's fine, it's glorious. Interesting to see how little runway the 77W uses when travelling light.
