Worlds Best Aircraft Livery
I thought it might be fun to get everybody to put forward their number 1 favourite aircraft livery and after taking submission we can put a poll together of the top 5 or 10 and have the members vote for a winner.
All you need to do to have your airline/aircraft livery included is make a post here and a link to a photograph of the aircraft and why you think it is the best. For me it has to be the Gulf Air F1 special Scheme. http://www.jetphotos.net/news/media/...6363342889.jpg Looking forward to seeing your submission. |
I'm a little partial to Biman. :D

Gulf Air's new livery in general is awesome...that F1 though is quite good

If we're talking special schemes, it has to be Wunula Dreaming! For regular schemes, I think ANA is good, as is Air India's revised scheme, plus the revised QF scheme has really grown on me as well. |
Such an Intriguing tail!

In the space of about 7 months ive gone from not really caring about F1 to being super into-it - i love that gulf air scheme.
even this one was nice :) http://www.airliners.net/photo/Qanta...438/0071679/L/ as for my favorite......i would have to say the malaysia scheme from a few months back http://www.airliners.net/photo/Malay...-ER/1364952/L/ http://www.airliners.net/photo/Malay...-ER/1362137/L/ |

For me it would be a toss up between Air China's recently painted A330 or Aeroflot's 767 in the Beijing olympic livery. Both are stunning.

In all seriousness... Fav scheme would have to be MH's Heliconia 777-200. caution: self photo plug ahead. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Malay...-ER/0945822/M/ |

Special livery, I have always liked this one
http://jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=5850645&nseq=33 As for traditional livery, can't go past China Airlines MD-11 http://jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=56180&nseq=9 |

Damien,
Lovin' that Alaska "Salmon" livery thats fantastic! And it seems as if the brown/cappuccino/black livery for business aircraft is the flavour of the season have seen alot recently featuring those colours. |

Call me old fashioned, but I like to keep things simple...

For me nothing will surpass the brilliant schemes of the Ansett Group back in the 1970s
Especially the Macobertson Miller Blue/ Green scheme Also Airlines of New South Wales And Queensland Airlines Even TAA people said their schemes never quite matched them |
Sort of like seeing your footy side playing in their retro jerseys to mark anniversary years and special occasions. It brings back alot of memories.
Would be great to see a new Qantas jet in the "Flying Kangaroo" scheme from the days when the Kangaroo actually had a set of wings. That would be brilliant. Mix a bit of the old with the new. |

How's things mate? A bit quiet with the strike I'd imagine? Cheers |

DOH sorry. Quiet is an understatement. I'm witnessing my first Boeing strike and the airports are dead. I'm relearning I do have other things in my life :D Oh but it is great for catching up on editing summers work. At least it has coincided with the weather returning to its normal crap self. I've been shooting down at SEA & McChord - I know for sure the USAF sure ain't going on strike anytime soon ;) Scott. |
For me its CP Air's Douglas DC-8's from the late 60s to the early 80s.

I never got to see it but i did like the colours in this south African airways 747-300
http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.p...6116611&nseq=1 and the another i like would have to be Wunala Dreaming http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.p...6366269&nseq=3 |
For a standard livery I have always like South African and love it on the A346. Obviously its all about the tall but with the wing tips it looks great on the long white fuselage.

I cannot go past the Old Cathy livery. One of my fav's along with good memories as a kid spotting at YSSY.

For me, the Braathens livery from the mid 90's is a favourite.
http://www1.airpics.com/showimg.php?imgid=55588 The revised version, with a simpler tail featuring a flag is also not too bad: http://www1.airpics.com/showimg.php?imgid=77859 |
i also love the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) BBJ.
i don't know what it is, but the plain elegance of it just attracts it to me. it would look a whole lot better if those eye brows were painted over. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Austr...9025&refresh=1 |
I still beleive the two QF 747s were the best though (Wunula and Nalaji Dreaming). Would there be any hope of QF possibly redoing something similar (i.e. Indigenous art) on one of the new 787 or A380 perhaps?
If they did the A380, they would set a new world record again for the largest artwork right? |
Probably, its a big a/c!
But considering the time + weight, its very unlikely. Would be very very awesome to see though! I think John Borghetti said they had nothing planned in the recent online chat about the A380. EDIT: Indeed he did Quote:

Is it true that Malayasian did away with the Hibiscus livery because of the extra weight the paint added?
