Air New Zealand last 747 flight
I overheard today that NZ8 AKL-SFO will be the last flight for NZ's 747's tonight. Is this true, if it is, where will it go, cargo???:(:(

Apparently ZK-NBV's last flight is the return NZ7 from SFO on Friday morning, after 16 years of service.
|
I had read on another forum that it has been sold to GE. I don't know how reliable that information is however.

G'Day guys!! Back from the dead... been at least 4 years since I last posted here, but since moving to USA I haven't had a whole lot to contribute. Up till now!
I heard about this being AirNZ's final 747 flight, and having loved flying their 747s, I really wanted to make the trip up to SFO to see it one more time. Here are shots I took with my mobile phone (I know.. I know....but it's all I had yesterday). Sitting at her familiar gate https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/13...674/9duZj6.jpg A closer look (poor quality) https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/13...538/AmczXx.jpg Panoramic view of Concourse G at SFO https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/13...908/GIrbG1.jpg Emirates 77W climbing away. The Queen, and her successor. https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/13...674/2uSilc.jpg One final look. https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/13...674/fBqvxM.jpg Farewell http://photos-a.ak.instagram.com/hph...01846084_n.jpg Glad I got to see NZ's final 747 on her final flight home before retirement. Sad day. :( |

thx for sharing the pics
and so ends the 747 ops for another airline |
Air New Zealand have a competition running, and the prize is a compressor blade from one of their Boeing 747-400 engines.

Nice to have you back Shameel.

From another forum:
NBV is scheduled to leave Auckland for scrapping in Roswell as per the below schedule. 6074 744 1......6-Oct-14 6-Oct-14 AKL LAX 16:00 8:00 6074 744 .2.....7-Oct-14 7-Oct-14 LAX ROW 10:00 13:00 |
Strange. If it's not carrying passengers, why stop in LAX? It would easily have the legs to fly nonstop to Roswell.
|
the crew must still go through immigration/customs
|
I bet that can be arranged somewhere cheaper and quicker than a landing at LAX. Qantas file direct to VCV.
|
I guess Air New Zealand's recent profits mean they can splash out a little more these days..... ;)
