CALLING FINAL VOTES - Spotting Weekend 2010
 

Greetings congregation...

Early preparation for any Spotting Weekend is certainly a good idea, thus why I am seeking your valid and valued input via poll to ascertain an appropriate date/time frame to hold the 2010 event.
During the lead up, and over the course of the 2009 Spotting Weekend, many of those who attended, and even those who were absent, raised the question/idea of alternating the dates for the next Sydney Airport Spotting Weekend.

There were a few reasons for this:

# Heat haze Vs photography during February. Heat haze 1-0
# Early Feb is not School Holidays
# Some people may only want to organise one major spotting trip per year/half year:
- 17th and 18th April 2010 - Red Bull Air Race Perth (clash)
- 2nd, 3rd and 4th April 2010 - Warbirds over Wanaka, South Island NZ (clash)

Taking your feedback onboard, the Spotting Weekend Organising Committee is open to suggestion for an alternate date to hold the event in 2010.

Plan for the first weekend in February 2010 - as indicated by this illustrious poll :)

Would have been better conditions in April .... never mind, Ill still be there (depending on shifts to be worked on the day)

I assume the Trivia night & dinner will be Sat 6 February?

My personal preference would be for the Spotting Weekend to take place in the cooler months too, but the people's voice has been heard http://anchoredbygrace.com/smileys/nixweiss.gif ;)

Currently there are no plans for a Trivia night, or a formally organised dinner for 2010. Will try get some more info out during December.

Unless the votes swing in favour of another month by the end of November 2009, then it's safe to assume that the Spotting Weekend will go ahead on Friday 5th - Sunday 7th February 2010.

I agree, the weather is usually crap around Feb in Sydney anyway. Should be in June/July.

Hi Nick, due to previous year's "Hotel" requirements, it wasn't feasible to negotiate a cheaper deal at one particular Hotel for this event. Best bet, if you plan to stay overnight, is to check out all the last-minute accomm websites for a sneaky deal.

I know some people are staying at the Stamford, some the Holiday Inn, others the Mecure and the F1 - so it's a mixed bag this year :)

Excellent mate will do that, wifey and I live on Lastminute.com. Just came back from 6 days in QLD and every night was booked the same morning on Lasminute, bloody great way to have an adventure!
