QF744 VH-OJN
Hi All,
Anyone know where this aircraft is positioned at present? Can't seem to find any movement since it arrived back on QF2 on11/12. Haven't heard of any maintenance or tech issue and it just seems a long time to sit idle. (Unless I've missed something!!) Thanks Jim M |
It's being prepared to head off to Victorville.
Todd. |
Thanks Todd, I thought something was happening.
Any idea when she's heading off? Will be sad to see her go anyway :( Jim M |
Let you know when I get home.
There is a trip going which is the ferry flight to VCV. I'll check what date it leaves when I get home if I get a chance.
Todd. |
Thanks Todd, I appreciate all your help.

VH-OJN
Jim,
looks like it leaves on the 30th of December. Todd. |
Thanks Todd, I appreciate all your help with this.
Will try and get out there for the departure on the 30th but if I can't I would appreciate it very much if someone could take a photo or two... Many thanks Jim |
If the aircraft has lost it's Qantas titles and roo I may try to get out and catch her leaving.
|
Thanks Shayne, i presume she will be departing minus titles and too, but we'll see what happens.
Jim |
It won't be loosing its titles before it goes. It will be operating the QF 107 and then doing the short hop to Victorville. BTW it is the QF107 on the 29th.:D
|
Cheers Fred, thanks for the info
Jim |
If it is flying a commercial flight to the US before going to Victoriaville, why does it need the best part of 3 weeks to 'prepare'? Do they strip newish parts and swap with older parts or something else?
|
Pretty much Ash.

Don't know the specifics of this one but that's usually what happens. Todd. |
So what then happens with the return flight that is operated by the Aircraft that arrives as QF107? Cancelled?
|
The Qantassource states that QF108 on the 29th December will be flown by a A380 cancelling the QF 12 return to Sydney.
|
Given OJF has been listed for sale as of 16 Nov I wonder how long it will be before it heads off to join OJN at VCV?
|
OJF is doing to QF127/128 run as we speak so I presume it will still be utilised until its sold.
|
-OJN is in still the QANTAS Hangars opposite Gates 1&2 in Terminal 3, still wearing full Titles and Logos as of Yesterday
John |
John, thanks for that. I was actually wondering where at the Jet Base it was parked in the hope for a photo. Not the best spot though...
OJN is for sale too,but I don't think anyone has purchased it, but they are still retiring her, so my bet is that OJF won't be far behind, especially now that two more A380s have been delivered. OJG,OJH & OJJ are also for sale but they have late 2012 early 2013 available from dates. Jim M |
Why is this aircraft running a revenue service to USA while othe aircraft in the past eg -OJR left Australia without titles and passengers?
|
Anthony,
If my memory serves me correct, OJR went from Avalon to Marana. However, when OED & OEC went they both operated revenue services and both ended up at VCV. For these two it was late 2009 and OED operated QF107/QF108 SYD-LAX-JFK-LAX then to VCV, while OEC operated QF11 SYD-LAX then to VCV. Not sure about OJK. Hope this helps Jim M |
Jim, OJR left without markings probably due to it being leased and not owned and therefore, returned to leasor at the end of its life with Qantas.
Dave |
Dave, I agree with what you said and that is also most likely the reason that OED and OEC where able to be used on revenue services out of AUS, and now OJN.
Jim |
OJN was out at the jetbase this morning. Still wearing her titles...
|
Doesn't look like I'm going to be able to get out there on Thursday for her departure,so if anyone is able to get a few shots,it would be appreciated.
Anyone know where at the jet base she is now sitting? Thanks Jim |
Jim its parked facing east with its tail over the pond.
|
Thanks alot Tim,I was hoping for somewhere like that.
|
OJN departed for LAX about 5mins ago off 16R.
|
If anyone obtains flight no. details for LAX-VCV, it would be great to have them passed on.
Many Thanks Jim M |
Qf6019 lax-vcv. 30/12/11.
|
Thanks Ian, I just saw the details myself, but thanks for posting.
Will be interesting to see what happens from here with OJN and indeed her sister 744s that will follow over the coming months/years. :( |
