MAS135 diversion to Alice Springs

Been watching the postings on this forum for several years, but now have something worthy of posting myself :-)

Heard MAS135 with a medical emergency on board diverting to YBAS this afternoon. I was able to get to the airport and snap off some shots, which I will post here a little later, but for now MAS135 (A330) is currently on the ground at YBAS. The tower is remaining open beyond normal closing time for his departure, at this stage no ETD given by the crew.

I have been streaming audio for ML Cneter and AS tower for several months via LiveATC.net for anyone interested in tuning in.

Cheers,
Geoff.

As promised here are a couple of photos of this unusual visitor to YBAS.
We don't see many Airbus types through here, and international airlines are a very rare catch indeed!

In this case A330 9M-MTF landing on RW12 after holding for a short time to dump fuel north of Alice. I just happened to be in the area with the camera when I heard the exchange between MAS135 and ML Center and thought I'd have a go at taking some shots - my first effort, hope they are reasonable quality ;-)

Cheers,
Geoff

Good catch, very rare indeed. From memory the only other airbus that go to the Alice is (or was) Tiger.

An Air Asia X flight enroute from KUL-OOL diverted there late last year Lukas.

I see..Now I also remember a JQ A330 went there the other month for the night.

AirAsia X has also diverted on a MEL sector in the last 18 months. Great photos Geoff & awesome that you were able to get there!
