Deleted posts protocol

Is there a protocol that mods leave a note when a series of posts are deleted? I don't particularly object to the deletion of Peter D's fake photo posts from the AF447 thread, and Gerard and my responses, but perhaps a note that it had occurred would be appropriate?

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your question.

There isn't necessarily any reason for a Moderator to leave a note advising what was moderated etc, as there'd end up being notes all over the forum for all the little things that get cleaned up, deleted, or modified in some way, to either bring topics back in line or to remove content due to breach of the Conditions of Use.

From a time perspective, it's not realistic for Moderators to provide such notice, and in all honesty, we don't really see it as a major concern..... The forum has always been a moderated service as one would expect.

There has, and will continue to be on occasions, various comments left by Moderators whereby we may believe it be necessary to re enforce certain behaviour in a particular thread or to deter future such behaviour in other cases; but only where really necessary, to ensure things continue to run smoothly. These adhoc comments will continue to appear.

However, no such protocol will be put in place for a consistent approach.

If readers wish to seek clarification on the Conditions of Use re moderation, please refer to 4. Moderation here.

Thank you.
