Qantas 737 retirement
 

Ok so it's still a ways off to say the least, but thought it would be interesting to estimate a date for the first retirements and and the final. If the 767 got a special send off, no doubt the last 737 to go will deserve some special attention. Any predictions? After retirement i'm sure some will continue with other carriers or be converted to freighters. Seems like yesterday they were brand new. Feeling old I certainly am...

The final flight of the 737 would certainly deserve a big send-off. The first 737 in Qantas colours flew in the early to mid 1990s, but of course it was in 1986 that the first Australian Airlines 737 flew. I think that a retro-livery on the 737-800 in Australian Airlines colours would be a great thing to do.

Qantas will have to publicly list when they are going to start retiring the 737. In the latest info graphic on the ASX there is nothing about retirement of the 737 fleet.

The first 737's to go will be the B734F's which will by replaced by the new A321P2F.

Rather than speculate now, I would wait till the replacement A32xNeos start arriving.

True. QF does have 15 737-800 with over 20 years service, and another 5 that will reach that milestone over the next few months.

VH-VXQ hits 20 years in June, and has been parked since February. Given the damage in 2021, perhaps this will be the first 737-800 to be retired? I have no idea of its cycles compared to others.

That’s not correct, see the annual report page 18. It was also mentioned in the order media release.

Doubt it given the FY25/26 etas for the additional A321P2F that were announced.

We seem to forget that QF B734F VH-XMB was retired in Sept. 2022
