Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Match Promotion

Get in quick guys pretty sure this will be the last status match Virgin will be offering! I for one am delighted with this news as my equivalent status with Virgin offers far more than the same tier with Qantas. To say my loyalty to Qantas is in question at the present time would be an understatement. |
Nice find Jacob, hope mine gets approved!

Irony!
QF downgraded me from Platinum to Gold 'cos I took too many RedE fare deals with Qantas that only earned 10 status credits. So now Virgin has granted me Gold status in Velocity. QF didn't reward my loyalty so I may as well reciprocate! Since I have lifetime silver with Qantas what's the incentive to stick with them, especially when they still run 30 year old 763s to HNL.

Phillip,
The oldest 763 QF has is 22 years old but the oldest internatioanal configeration is only 16 years old. So how could QF run HNL with 30yr 763 when they don't even have a 763 that old? Regards, Alexander |
When I changed jobs at work and stopped travelling so much internationally on business, Qantas kept me on Platinum for two more years even though I only travelled on one sector in each of those years. Finally they downgraded me to Gold this year (with lifetime silver) so I feel they have looked after me quite well, and the 1,000,000 plus points I gained have been very valuable. The offer from Virgin however is too good not to take advantage of, so the application went in on Friday, and if approved I will have more options to choose from. Virgin seem to be on a roll at present, and Qantas all over the shop.

Currently the oldest 767 in passenger service is N769VA (7th of the line), and was delivered in November 1982.
In fact the first flight of the prototype 767 was in September 1981. So the 767 itself is not 30 years old. |
Too old

I certainly agree with the no ISE point. I thought QF were going to put ISE on the newer 763s.
