QantasLink 717s in SYD
I remember quite a few years ago now QantasLink 717s were common around SYD - what flights did they operate? I have a feeling they may have been ex-Impulse routes which QF took over before disappearing into Jetstar (Could be completely wrong)
I even remember they had a J class for a while. Was it the same J class service as on domestic mainline? I ask because I'm not sure the 717s had ovens in the galley. |
They use to do the Hobart and Launceston routes before Jetstar started ops.

I got one from OOL to SYD in 2002, from that trip (four flight CBR-SYD-OOL-SYD-CBR) only one of the aircraft I went on remains in the fleet, the Dash 8-300.
The other two flights were on a BAe 146 and a 737-300. |
The 717's also did a Sydney-Newcastle round trip, up in the evening and back next morning, They were popular flights, people liked the novelty of a jet for a very short flight.
|
I flew on QantasLink 717s to/from Sydney on the SYD-HBA-SYD route in January 2004.
|
The 717 never had business class in them as far as I am aware. I can recall flying to HBA and being seated in row 1 being able to hear the computer calling out the heights on landing from the cockpit.

How long would a 717 flight be from Sydney to Newcastle?? Would the Cabin Crew even stand up?!

They also did Sydney - Hamilton Island.

The ex TWA B717's were the only ones to have J class in them, all the others had Y class only. You will see NXG and NXH at some stage this year for a paint most likely at Richmond RAAF base.
