Ohh dear. Maybe give it a rest Mr Byrt. Or at least a few years...

There's a lot of people who got burnt by Macair (myself included), so I doubt many people would support this venture just based upon the owner being the former owner of Macair.

my 13 year old brother could make a more professional looking website!

I understand the Macair saga has not been fully resolved as to who was to blame etc but it would seem prudent for him to end one chapter of the book before starting another.

If Macair does owe creditors $10m as was noted in the paper, it would be nice to see Mr Byrt settle those bills in the event management are deemed to be at fault considering he has a large personal fortune rather than let creditors who are likely suffering endure more pain.

It would seem heartless for him to move on with other plans spending more money yet forgetting about the creditors left behind.

Considering the cost of the AOC would be significent & it's for E-Jets - most of which Skyairworlds have already left the country you have to wonder how serious this is.

Adam P. 27th March 2009 08:48 PM

About as serious (and I'd wager about as much chance of succeeding) as this guy who wanted to set up E-Jet services between Orange, Melbourne and Brisbane late last year....

Airlines remain 'sexy' investments... so there is never a shortage of people willing to throw their hard-earned into new ventures that never seem to hang around for long...

NickN 28th March 2009 06:07 AM

The guy in the article Gerald Power at least seemed genuine. They even had an EMB145 visit Orange. In essence it could actually work. It was a bit silly of him to verbally bash REX though considering REX are highly successful in the regional market and financially have a very sound operation.

I thought you couldn't be a director of another company for 5 years under these circumstances?

Maybe I have the personal bankruptcy laws confused.....

NickN 29th March 2009 07:47 PM

From memory I don't think being the director of a company in administration prevents you from owning/starting others.

I believe personal bankruptcy laws do prevent you from being a company director.

Hopefully goodwill will prevail he will will honour the debts personally for Macair creditors.
