Alliance acquires Austrian Airlines’ Fokker fleet
Alliance acquires Austrian Airlines’ Fokker fleet
http://australianaviation.com.au/201...-fokker-fleet/ Thats one way of ensuring spares and a/c for the future. VARA might be interesting in a couple |
It is interesting how they were downsizing their Fokker fleet a few months ago, am I missing something.
|
There cross ownership of the Slovakian maintenance facility and access to the European charter market are clearly of interest as well, with the potential slowdown in resource related charters here.
|
The a/c sold were Flight-West originals that were the 1st & 2nd to see service in Oz.
Alliance recently announced that they were planning to fly the F70/100 for at least the next decade. So, a secure spares. The Austrian fleet is well known as Alliance has purchased their aircraft previously. Based on info I have from ex-Oz, the price was cheap. |
OE-LVL is on its way to Australia over the new few days.
VH-UQW ferried to WGA for repaint a few days back. |
LVL arrived in Brissie on Boxing Day

Robert if you want a shot of it landing at BNE as well as the partial Austrian scheme just email me thru this site.
Cheers |
Rather than start a new Thread on Alliance, I have found that Alliance has 1 ATR72 on order. C/n 1421. Does anyone have any news on this?
|
It's an error.
It should be for Alliance Air in India. https://www.flickr.com/photos/curufi...-79466464@N00/ |
Hi Max Thanks. I thought it was strange getting another type. Dennis

Logical replacement for the Fk50... one day.

Alliance has reportedly purchased the Dutch Government's Fokker 70 PH-KBX
http://nltimes.nl/2017/04/11/dutch-g...e-eu37-million |
Robert, are you a regular reader of the Dutch News ?
PH-KBX is no stranger to Australia as it brought the Dutch Royal Family on a Royal Visit to Perth in October, last year. I wonder if they noticed the Alliance guys "kicking the tyres" when parked in Perth. |
Negative, was tipped off. :) Word (rumour) is that it could be delivered in June/July (assuming it isn't painted).
VH-FKJ is out of the paint shop in Alliance livery still. |
Not sure if delivery dependent on arrival of replacement B737BBJ.
There is around 7 a/c stored in Bratislava if they need another a/c in a hurry |
PH-KBX will be finishing up in May but the BBJ isn't due until 2018 (not too sure what month). Which will mean they will need to charter a KLM or Dutch Military aircraft in the short term. My understanding is that the Royal fly on scheduled flights from time to time.
I'll post FKJ in the photos thread. |
There is one showing into BNE tonight on delivery from KOE ??? NEW ONE OR
SXI 1724 or is this a machine returning after maintenance??? |
It's JFB from maintenance
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk |
JFB has now been repainted into the standard Alliance livery.

Alliance Airlines posts 37 per cent profit increase in 2015/16
Alliance Aviation Services has reported a 37 per cent improvement in full year net profit and says the resources sector is showing signs of improvement. The company said statutory net profit for the 12 months to June 30 2017 came in at $18.5 million, a significant increase from $13.5 million in the prior corresponding period. Revenue rose 12 per cent to $203.2 million, Alliance said in a regulatory filing to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) on Thursday. “The current result is pleasing and positions the business well for the future,” Alliance managing director Scott McMillan said in a statement. Profit before tax came in at $19.6 million, a 45 per cent increase from $13.5 million in the prior year. Alliance has sought to broaden its operations from fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) work to boost revenue in areas such as tourism, aircraft sales, wet and dry leasing and spare parts sales. In July, the airline commenced regular public transport services (RPT) from Brisbane to Bundaberg, Gladstone and Port Macquarie with Fokker 70 regional jets which are sold Virgin Australia codeshare services. Meanwhile, Alliance and Virgin have received Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) approval to work together in the charter and (FIFO) market, allowing for the joint tendering for corporate FIFO contracts, as well as cooperating on aircraft maintenance, procurement of aircraft and parts, parts pooling, airport operations, airport handling, check-in, frequent flyer programs, lounge access, scheduling, pricing, sales and marketing and service policies. A substantial jump in wet lease flying (which rose to 4,600 hours in 2015/16 compared with 853 hours in the prior year) led to an 11 per cent increase in total flight hours in 2015/16. Flight hours for contracted/charter flying fell three per cent to 17,872 hours. Alliance operates some regional Queensland services on behalf of Virgin via a wet-lease arrangement, in addition to agreements with a number of other carriers. The company had 29 aircraft in service at June 30 2017 – comprising five Fokker 50s, eight Fokker 70s and 16 Fokker 100s – up one from a year earlier. It said three additional aircraft would be introduced into service in the first half of 2017/18 to “position Alliance for further growth and fleet opportunities”. Further, Alliance said revenue diversification was a key part of the 2017 result and would continue to be in future years. “The resources sector continues to demonstrate signs of recovery and the Alliance strategic partnerships will provide opportunities during the next year,” Alliance said. “Wet lease flying is forecast to continue to grow compared with the 2017 financial year and the recent introduction of regular public transport (RPT) services in regional Queensland and New South Wales will provide new opportunities.” Alliance declared a final dividend of three cents per share, fully franked. http://australianaviation.com.au/201...ase-in-201516/ |
So looks like we will have over 25% of the F70/100 in the world in Australia.
|
Of the 330 F70/100 built 68 have appeared on the Aussie Register.
That doesn't include the 8 frames stored in Bratislava and the recently arrived PH-KBX. Also Austrian 4-5 frames still in service yet to be handed over to Alliance. |
VH-NKQ arrived this week into Brisbane, the latest ex-OS F70. Two more F100s also due in the coming months.
