Red Flags on grass at YSSY

Maybe a Nigel question.

I was taxiing out to 16L on VH-VUI the other day and on a grass patch near B4? (I left gate 36) there were dozens of little red flags covering the patch.

They're like the little flags I've seen on ACI. What are they there for?

The red flags mark out where underground cables and services are located, so that when the T2 terminal extension begins they'll know where to dig by hand.

It's not a good look when an excavator digs up dirt with strings of lighting/communications cables hanging out of it...

thanks Nige
