Where is VH-FKL & VH-YAD

G'day...

Can anyone tell me where Alliance Fokker 100 VH-FKL is - if it exists?

And also Cobham BAe-146-200 VH-YAD?

I know that VH-YAE is still operational.

I have accounted for every other commercial aircraft in Australia, except for these two.

Thanks,

Steve S

Steve,

This might help.

YAD went into storage in Adelaide on or about 03/2009
FKL arrived in Brisbane on 11/09/2007 but haven't heard a word since.

Both are still current on the civil register.

Steve,

VH-YAD is stored here in Adelaide, it has been for a while. I believe it will be scrapped along with VH-NJX and NJT later on in the year.

Hi Greg, I believe FKL is used for parts at Brisbane Airport - it sits outside the Alliance Hangar in the US Airways livery.
This picture taken in mid-2011 seems to show this. Last Saturday I also saw an F100 in US Airways colours sitting outside the hangar at BNE; it's a common sight, so it may be the same airframe. Don't know about YAD unfortunately.

Hope this helps :)

VH-FKL in US Air colours is still sitting outside the Alliance hangar at BNE.

It has been used as spare parts.Has never flown since it's arrival to my knowledge.

Basically any aircraft that is to be used for spare parts in Australia has to remain on the Australian register until all useable parts on that aircraft have been exhausted. This is for CASA purposes and also for traceability of the parts removed to service another aircraft in that fleet. Once the parts have been exhausted it is then up to the said company to decide if they then will bring that airframe back to serviceable standard or scrap it, it is then that the aircraft will probably be removed from the register. This is my understanding of it. Someone with more knowledge my be able to correct me.

Regards

Michael
