I am presuming the aircraft is stripped inside of seats, galley equipment, IFE control unit etc before departing? If that is the case does anyone know the weight difference between OJG and a fully outfitted QF744?

Anthony F 21st August 2012 12:27 PM

What would they do with the seats?

Fred C 21st August 2012 12:51 PM

Nothing is removed from the aircraft prior to departure. It goes as a fully working aircraft. Seats, Galley, IFE all functional.:D

Really!? Wow, I would've thought they'd go for the weight saving and strip it all out before departure... especially with the length of time OJG has been in Sydney.

Isn't all of the interior part of the 'package' when it comes to sell, or... I hate to say it, scrap the aircraft?

Mark Grima 22nd August 2012 09:41 AM

To my knowledge, yes that is the case. Internal features can make the company scrapping the aircraft a decent amount of coin once on sold.

Guess it depends upon whether the airline needs spares for themselves, the age of the aircraft and what possible uses it may have in the future.

Looks like OJH may have now have been withdrawn as well
Can anyone confirm/add details?

Jim

OJH hasn't been withdrawn yet, it is operating the QF127 today

Thank you Sarah, thats very good news as far as i'm concerned.
Hope it won't be for a while yet.....

Cheers
Jim
