-VY* registered 738's
is there a difference between -VX and -VY registed QF 737-800's? An ACARS search of the records of flights between Sydney and Noumea show just about every -VX aircraft has been recorded operating the flight, but not one -VY.
are -VY aircraft confined to domestic routes for some reason? |
VY registered aircraft have de rated engines.

BNE-NOU flights are operated by VX, VY & VZ series B738's.

I assume that means the VY aircraft are confined to east coast routes |
I think some or all the VX's were from the orginal order from American Airlines.
The VY's were ordered directly by QF hence the different rego's along with some other upgrades, like no window brow's |
The first 8 aircraft were all built as 823 but had their designators changed to 838.This is the first time boeing ever changed this.

They all have different engine ratings etc, you will notice that all this year when the runway at Perth is being ripped up that only certain block of aircraft will be ops out of Perth, I think its the VY series. If I remember correctly (tracey correct me if I am wrong) VX is 26k VY is 24k VZ is 22k thrust settings.
