SmartLynx Aussie AOC

They are the 2nd largest ACMI company in the world and will supply aircraft to Australian airlines and tour and sporting groups etc under a wet lease agreement.

It's a Foreign AOC approval - which is vastly different from a local operator CASA AOC.

Latvian wet-lease specialist SmartLynx has secured authorisation to conduct operations from Australia, where is intends initially to use Airbus A330s.

Probably on behalf of Virgin?

lloyd fox 28th February 2023 08:10 AM

Yes Brenden i have thought so too.:)

Yusef D 28th February 2023 02:32 PM

That would be very interesting, and somewhat controversial

Rowan McKeever 28th February 2023 03:01 PM

Can't see the controversy myself...?

Several work groups within Virgin are seething with discontent at the management's savage cuts and treatment of employees as cost burdens. Wages and conditions were slashed during a time the airline's continued existence was in doubt. A number of contracts are due this year, conditions are far behind other employers and management just wants to hold the place together with sticky tape long enough for it to be hastily sold.

If further flying, especially long haul flying (Haneda) was to be outsourced the pilots and flight attendants would scream blue murder.
