Looks like Qantas handled it well dispatching a 73.. Other forums report pax well looked after in MA- apparently however the only one shop open ran out of food!

Any word on when/where the aircraft will ferry out?

Cheers Dave... from SYD website QF6111 is due to arrive at 1625L today, so presumably out of ISA at around 1245L (1345AEST)?

Not the first time a 767 has been to Mount Isa, but definitely not a common occurence!

And it's nice to see that so far the reports haven't been sensationalised and all the passengers have been happy.

Credit to the passengers for not over dramatising it - the issue was really with the lack of stairs, Isa just can't afford to have a set of stairs for a 767 sitting by in case a once-in-a-year event happens.

At least the pax got an upgrade in terms of the IFE, with the 737 taking them back to BNE having the SKy Interior.

must have taken hours to get off the 767 without stairs ?

How hard would it be to have some extendable stairs, even if they had to be pushed into place, rather than driven on the back of a truck ?

Yet they keep a set of B717 stairs there. When was the last time a B717 landed at Mount Isa?

Didn't a 717 operate between ISA and DRW at one stage? No point getting rid of those stairs given the number of 717's operating in the north.

I lived in Mount Isa between 2006 and 2011 and never saw a B717. But I do remember when the stairs were delivered around 2007.

Just as many B767's fly over Mount Isa as B717's do....
