Noel, I think your safe for a few years yet....

The other thing we didn't account for in the number available was the number of regos that have already been reserved and taken off the available list.

eg: There are no regos available in the ZN block, I expect that QF has reserved this block for upcoming B789s, and so on.

Yeah, thanks Greg. Nice to get that reassurance.

Was only in the section for about 2 years and from memory there were quite a few blocks that couldn't be used, besides the ones in reserve for QEA (NSW), TAA and Ansett/ANA (Vic/Tas) as well as the aero clubs etc,. The Department looked after their own with the VH-CAx block.

If it were run by the Roads and Maritime Board, they would charge a large yearly fee for a registration number out of sequence. Do you want it in a different colour? Add another yearly fee. Just my little dig.

and of course Australia re uses marks unlike (say) the UK

And is there an example to follow with Ireland adding EJ-xxxx to the current EI-xxx ?

Geoff G 20th October 2018 06:01 PM

Probably not. VH is for aircraft reg, the adjoining VI prefixnisnused by radio licencing. If anything I would suggest 4 letters, as the ACMA has done for the Amateur Radio VK suffixes. We have 2, 3 and now 4 letter suffixes in that range.
