Yssy spotting from the multi storey car park on the domestic side.

Hi all

I have a few hours to kill at yssy t2 and recall seeing video from a carpark looking down 16L.

Is access still possible and how do I get in.

Cheers

Adrian from near YMAV

Adrian, it's a good spot up there on the rooftop of the Domestic Terminal car park. Some of it was closed for a while during the peak of COVID, if I recall correctly.

For videos or photography from that rooftop, a long lens ('telephoto') is usually required.

Mornings are best, in terms of the angle of the sunlight, I think.

But its a great spot, overall.

Its a top spot Robbie for sure. Just needs a bar :)

BYO... but remember to dispose of the empties thoughtfully. Or there's a bar in the 'airside' part of the Domestic Terminal. You don't need to be flying to access it, but you will need to go through those x-ray machines that scan passengers' bags. I used to drop into that bar when I was staying at the nearby Ibis Hotel when I flew back into Australia.

Update: there is another carpark that i'm interested in accessing for spotting.

It is adjacent to the P3 Domestic Carpark and is bounded by 7th Street, 9th Street and Shiers Avenue. It is smaller and lower than P3. Does anyone know if this is a private carpark or has public access?

Flight arrivals from the north into the parallel runway would be ideal from this spot. I saw the Exit but I can't see/find the entrance. Is it open?
