Did ZL 436 (Rex) Divert Today 28/6/12?
 

Noticed an odd track for this flight today. SAAB Due in to Ballina, Picked it up circling at Tweed Heads about 5PM, and ending up landing at Brisbane.

Weather in BNK was heavy rain and low cloud, but visibility was OK based on METARs at the time.

Rex does not fly pax to Brisbane but perhaps it was on its way to Townsville? They do fly Townsville - Mt Isa.

Diverted due wex in BNK along with i believe DJ1141 today which also went to BNE, attempting to leave BNE now 9pm back to BNK for a further attempt. Rex do not fly from BNE - TSV but they do have Saab's doing charter work ex BNE. They do have regular flights from TSV to ISA and some with all stops inbetween! The aircraft are often swapped over in BNK to get back into the SYD network, i can only assume for maintenance reasons

Well not so great if you are one of the pax trying to get to NTL tonight, the latest is if it gets in its going straight to SYD.

Appears the Rex flight had a go at landing at BNK, then hung around Lismore for a while, didn't go through with it, then on to Brisbane.

The DJ1141 flight circled off the coast at BNK, did not attempt an approach, and went direct to brisbane (after holding at Tweed).
