2016 Canberra Airport Open day

Hi,

Is it too early to find out which aircraft are on static display at the Canberra Airport open day tomorrow? I know Qantas is having a 737-800 and a 717-200 and Virgin Australia is having a 737-800 representing.

I have seen that VXQ is flying in from Perth tonight, can I assume this will be the 737 on display? I only ask as XZP and XZJ are flying into Sydney so unless they are positioning to Canberra, I doubt they will be on display.

Can I assume YQW will be the 717 on display as its undergoing maintenance in Canberra at the moment.

Does anyone know whether there's a charity mystery flight happening and what the rego is of the Virgin Australia 737 as yet?

Thank you in advance.

YQY will most likely be the 717, YQW is certainly in no state for display at the moment. Believe VUR will be the VA aircraft.

A DHC4 caribou, DC3 and the Connie flew over home today inbound pfot tomorrow. Hear the roulettes check in with CB approach as well... Getting some nice attendees :) EAG (connie) requested RW30 but wasnt allowed due to aircraft type. Approach asked for MTOW and did a double take at the 60000kg answer given. EAG said they would do less pavement damage than a Dash8, but accepted RW35 in the end.

Was at the open day today.

The Qantas 717 was a no show (anyone know why?), VXQ "Retro Roo II" was the Qantas 737 on display, and VUR was the Virgin 737 on display

From a post in a facebook group it seems the B717 (YQT) was required in service due to damage to another B717 (NXE?) caused by ground equipment.

Rowan, thats the same info i heard from several Qantas Employees, and that Qantaslink didn't have any other B717's available for the day.

Apparently the most common question of the ADF folk outside the Spartan was "when are we retiring these things"
