BNE Storm 13Nov
Some incredible shots coming out of Brisbane from the mini-tornado that went through this afternoon.
Many aircraft damaged - trees down at the spotting loop. This video shows the stairs crashing into a QF737 https://twitter.com/Drano2go/status/797708016980066304 (Not my photos) http://i.imgur.com/no5FNtV.jpg http://imgur.com/5EryMu4.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9zB2mQi.jpg |
Yes myself and many others were standing under this tree at midday getting out of the intense heat.
I believe there are reports of a GAM AIR Do 228 having blown some distance and lying on it's wing. No doubt there will be more reports coming in overnight and in the am. Hopefully there were no injuries. Winds were around 158 km/hr or 85 knots. |
YQU the 717 in the image above will not be flying anywhere for quite some time.
On a side note....where on earth did the water tank come from? |
Wow,
http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/quee...13-gsoj6m.html Check out, shipping containers look like lego after a trantrum. Badly dinged engine on what looks like a QF 738 |
10 Aircraft are being accessed by insurance companies according to the Courier Mail today.
3 X QF 738'S and 1 717 and 1 JQ 320 are mentioned. |
Does anyone know the rego's of the 3 X QF 738'S which were damaged especially the one in which the stairs crashed into the engine cowling?
|
VYH was one and VZW hasn't flown since so I'd say say was damamged

The other B738 could be VYL which flew into Bris on the 12/11 and hasn't flown since.
|
She wasn't on the ground for the storm, having diverted to OOL. Arrived at 6 after the storm had gone.
|
VYH & VYL are back in service.
Mark, VYL ferried into Bris on 12/11 (http://flightaware.com/live/flight/VHVYL) the night before the big storm which occurred on the 13/11. VZW is still in Brisbane (maybe the one with the damaged engine pod) Did anyone identify the Jetstar a/c involved ? |
