Omni DC10 Air Tanker

On mode-s is Omni Air Tanker N17085 at FL280 probably heading to MEL?

Tail code of '911' (appropriate for USA!!) so may very well be here for fire-fighting duties or demo?

Any other news welcome.:):)

Thanks Peter, will have to give it a miss then

Thanks Peter. Its route here was So California Logistics (KVCV) - Kona Itl (PHKO) - Pago Pago (NSTU) then avalon. From its logs on all its stops it travelled at FL280. Anyone know why it wouldn't cruise higher?

Heard on the news it is being leased for the fire fighting season. Looks like it will be based in AVV but might have to move depending on the areas affected this year.

I dont think it will based anywhere outside Vic as its paid by the Victorian Government.

N17085 is up flying today. Anyone know what callsign it uses?

Peter Agatsiotis 18th December 2009 11:46 AM

At a guess it would be 'Bomber 911'? From posts I've seen choppers use "Helitak" and fixed wing use "Bomber". As usual stand to be corrected.
