QF new livery

How is Qantas approaching repainting the fleet into the new livery?

Still, only 1 767, 1 747 have been repainted, and no A330-300's

I know that the 737's are being repainted

Will Qantas bother with any more?

It makes sense to paint all the A330's, but all of the -300's still have the old blue seat fabrics!

What about the 747's/767's? will they stay as they are?

I know that it costs a lot to paint a plane, and in these tough times especially.

They will be painted as they go thru overhauls. The A330-300 are reasonably new so they will not be painted for a long time.

These things take time...only a few months ago I saw the B767 VH-OGQ? which still had its very old " The Australian Airline " titles instead of "The Spirit of Australia "

Still heaps of old United livery around too. It must have been nearly 2 years since they introduced with a new white and blue colours?

However, its not the only thing that United take ages to upgrade...

Actually, more than four years ago - They released pics of their first 777 in the new colours in late 2004!

The re-paint is a minor change which will happen when the aircraft are ready to be repainted. There is no point doing a repaint for such a minor change. Most people would hardly notice the difference.

I agree.

I think it would make sense to leave the 767's and 747's as they are

Obviously, the A330's and 737-800's make sense to paint in time

might take 10 or so years to complete it all! - because you've got the Dash 8s and Qantaslink a/c as well
speaking of liveries it would be nice if we could go 'retro' on 1 or 2 a/c in the fleet

Are't there already a few of these (Q400 and the like) already done??

Todd Milton 12th November 2008 09:40 AM

Bernie,
The newer Q400's are done, and QOH is aswell as it is in the special Breast Cancer Pink livery. VH-QOI, -QOJ, -QOK, -QOM, -QON are all in the new QantasLink Livery. I think -TQY is still the only older Dash 8 to be in the new livery.
