Virgin Aircraft

Hi Everyone,

I just booked a flight from Sydney to Cairns on Virgin, I've never flown with them before and am hoping I might get one of the new Embraer's they've got in service.

I've looked on the Virgin website but can't seem to find anywhere that tells me what aircraft will be used for my flights.

Flight No: DJ397
Fri 07 Nov 2008

Flight No: DJ386
Mon 10 Nov 2008

I'm sure someone here will be able to point me in the right direction

It will be a 737 - sorry

Yep, will be a 737. Embraers seem to be operating to Mackay & Rockhampton in the regional Queensland cities.

I flew on the E190 for the first time last month on a return BNE-ROK-BNE service for business and I must say I was extremely impressed with the aircraft. Nice big windows for viewing (bigger than the 737), comfortable leather seats and nice seat pitching.

Overall a great experience and I will look forward to flying the Embraer again.

Talking Embraers, can anyone tell me if they are on the CBR-MEL route? if so are they 170 or 190?

Radi K 1st October 2008 11:40 PM

Phil,

A mix of both.

They are and both types operate the route, DJ 712 CBR-MEL is E-170 most of the other flights are E-190, they do still operate B737's also on the route.

CBR-MEL is the only route I know of on the Virgin network where all 4 types operate: E70, E90, 73W and 73H

Of course it is subject to change, but the schedule effective 5 October shows:

CBR-MEL:
0635: E90/73W (one day one, the next day the other, in a constant rotation)
0905: E70
1000: E90/73W (as above)
1245: E90
1700: 73W/73H interchangeable
1815 (sat only): E70
2000: 73W/73H interchangeable but mainly 73W

That flight should remain E70 as instead of staying in MEL until 1345 it will be doing the MEL-MQL-MEL from the 13th of October.
