Tropospheric Ducting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troposp...pheric_ducting

Tropospheric ducting is a type of radio propagation that tends to happen during periods of stable, anticyclonic weather. In this propagation method, when the signal encounters a rise in temperature in the atmosphere instead of the normal decrease (known as a temperature inversion), the higher refractive index of the atmosphere there will cause the signal to be bent.
I guess the warm northwesterly winds over the last two days might be part of the reason.

Thanks Michael, on some of the flights there is just not quite enough information to identify the Aircraft and Flight No. The last ACARS report for ZK-OJG had it going into Christchurch. ZK-PBG from Brisbane to Dunedin via MISLY was a nice lateral plot at 300nm.
