They would’ve flown all the way from ASP to SYD with the gear down. Hence the altitude and speed that James mentioned in another post. Not cycling the landing gear on a sector means they haven’t put a cycle on it and significantly reduces maintenance costs. Especially when the jet is in long term storage!
QF also ferried their A332 from AVV to SYD with the gear down for the same reason
