You can purchase a Fokker 100 for less than a B1900D. You can buy 5 F100's for the price of 1 E190 and 10-12 F100's for the price of 1 E2.
The big issue with the F100 is the engines, hence to operate 1 you need to 2 to give you access to spare engines. This is the main reason Alliance purchased so many F100/70's.
There is about 5-8 years life really left in the F100/70 and by that time the price of used E170/190's will make them viable for the likes of VARA and Alliance. However they will never be true replacements for the F100/70.
