I have always referred to aircraft as "he". And until now I have never given it a second thought.
I think it must be because a million years ago when I wore blue and had hair, there were no girls
, so we would watch fellow students in the circuit and say "what is he doing now?"
So "he" has sort of stuck!
That was of course until Airbus was invented. Now we say what is "it" doing?????????????????
