If I could keep this thread going.....

Was just reading through the TSA website where it suggests that laptop computers not be put in checked baggage if possible.

For my upcoming trip I have 10 or so domestic flights and for convenience would prefer to pack my laptop in my checked baggage.

Is this a big issue?
Would having the laptop in my checked baggage make it more likely that the bag will need to be opened for extra screening?

I will have TSA locks, but on occasions they do get cut which is an outcome I would like to avoid if it means that I should bring my laptop on board as carry-on.
