Don't think VC's new strategy would allow interlining, but no reason why passengers couldn't book on AS or Westjet to YVR.
In these cases, passengers would be best to stopover in HNL in both directions for a night or 2. If worked out cheaper than other routes (note there are no nonstops BNE or MEL/SFO-SEA-YVR) people would do it.
