If you go up the ramp to the Virgin Lounge and Qantas Club, there is a set of windows at the top with some seats. I didn't get a chance to look out of these myself, only noticed them on the way to the gate from the Virgin Lounge.
Of course this is only good for photos in the morning and there might be some issues with heat haze off the roof, but it's better than nothing.
