I was in Beijing and Shanghai 2 weeks ago, had opportunity to visit the new terminals in both cities, which had quite big improvement compare to their old ones but certainly there are still a lot more to be improved. My impression on the 2 new terminals is the design might have the influence from the Hong Kong airport (whether the designer of Beijing T3 also the designer of Hongkong and LHR T5).
Lucky enough, the weather in Beijing during my stay was unusually great, we even saw the aircraft approaching Beijing capital from the city centre in the distance.
