Let's be honest, catastrophic engine failures aren't a "beer and skittles" kind of event!!!
With the main disc spinning at an RPM figure we can only dream of odds are that if one blade lets go the remainder will be forced to follow suit in pretty quick succession Here is a good video of a failure in a test cell environment: Trent 900 goes BANG!!! Given the explosive nature of such a failure it is incredible that the debris is mostly contained by the engine casing.

Nothing hit the 'body', but the report does state that the flaps were punctured and the underside of the wing had damage.
