This will become a regular occurrence, with the 787-9 and A330-200 operating “mixed daily flights” according to Qantas. The 787-9 will also operate the morning QF119 service to Auckland starting tomorrow. These changes were supposed to be implemented in August, I guess they were brought forward.

They may have some extra frames floating around after the Xmas & School Holidays rush.

It seems it won’t be too regular just yet. There’s only three LAX returns and three AKL returns in total with the 787 before it switches back to the A330.

QANTAS A380 VH-OQI is scheduled to operate a positioning flight from DRS to LHR tomorrow, Wednesday 5/2/25 as QF6022, at the conclusion of its three week maintenance period in DRS.

There is also another scheduled positioning flight from LHR to DRS on Wednesday as QF6021. This will be the A380 operating today's QF1, ex SYD (OQA or OQB?) to DRS for maintenance replacing OQI, which will operate the return Wednesday QF2 from LHR arriving in SYD on Friday morning.

OQH is operating QF1 today and will be the A380 to reposition tomorrow to DRS from LHR for maintenance.

According to QANTAS Flight Status the swap has been postponed until Friday which will mean that OQH wont be the A380 to position to DRS for maintenance, unless it stays in LHR for the two days meaning that tonight's QF2 would be cancelled.

I believe it will be OQJ swapping with OQI in LHR.
