Thanks Grahame. After asking the question I realised I could check FR to see what had been happening and then probably work it out.

Qantas Freight B767-300 VH-EFR departed Sydney on Runway 25 during the strong westerlies yesterday afternoon, heading for Auckland, then Christchurch and Brisbane. VH-EFR will undergo maintenance in Brisbane, so her replacement arrived in Sydney this morning from Honolulu. Polar Cargo (DHL) B767-300 N647GT will operate the same services as VH-EFR on behalf of Qantas.

N647GT originally operated with KLM from 1996 to 2006, then with Ethiopian Airways from 2006, until converted to a freighter by Israel Aerospace Industries (Bedek Aircraft Group Division) in 2015, with code BDSF being used.

Looks like I flew on her back in 2001, Amsterdam - London.

Was the cheapest option I could find to experience flying on the 767, and probably close to the shortest possible experience, too.

Flew business class and was served a persion bread with scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, chives and dill. Amazing stuff...

Was there any word on why JAL sent 788 rather than 789?
We usually get 788s here in London, but for about 2 weeks, we got your 789s instead, so presumably a straight swap for that period?

cheers

QantasLink (VH-QOC) Bombardier DHC-8-402Q, fog created some issues for airlines today in inland NSW and Vic. Fog in Wagga didn't clear until after 12:30pm. Currently the same situation this morning, though the fog is less widespread.
