25 was used for deaptures today. All departures before 7am used it except for one for Perth. It was "interesting" to have it back and be using it for departures again.

How long will it be before all the equipment is removed and the hill at the St George end of the runway is accessable again - or has the vantage point been lost forever?

Lee, I think all that is part of the de-sal works at the moment. They're only laying pipe there, so I can't see why it wouldn't become publicly accessible again.

Mario, it'll probably be used for departures only unless the winds (or perhaps traffic density) dictate otherwise.

Just an update...

The Rwy 25 RESA project is now complete after over 18 months of delicate construction works, with Rwy 07/25 going back to full unrestricted operations as of 0600 tomorrow morning (April Fools Day...).

There will no longer be traffic lights for the perimeter roadway that goes under the SWSOOS, allowing continuous traffic flow between the NW and SW sectors.

The new RESA tunnel is quite an impressive structure...anhyone who does a tarmac tour before they are wound up will get to see first hand the size of the project.

As long as no one tests the Rwy 25 RESA.
