Default United Airlines 840

Looking at FR24 UAL840 SYD-LAX seems to be heading back to Sydney.

Can anyone confirm this is the case and why?

There is nothing specific in the ACARS transmissions, they tracked via DIPSO, GOVER, ALLOC, WARTY and NATLI.

In this transmission they had changed the route details from YSSY-KLAX to YSSY-YSSY. Not sure if DUMP REPORT refers to fuel dumping ?

ACARS mode: 2 Aircraft reg: .N228UA
Message label: 5Z Block id: 9 Msg. no: M63A
Flight id: UA0840
Message content:-
/C4 DISP MSG / YSSY YSSY 30 050853
WILL SEND DUMP REPORT AFTER BLOCKIN

Just read a report on Twitter from someone onboard using WiFi (4hr ago) saying that a passenger had passed away.
