Air Canada have confirmed the incident, stating that 22 people have been transported to hospital for observation and treatment of minor injuries.

Photograph of the aircraft

AirwaysNews is reporting that the aircraft hit power lines and suffered a hard landing. The aircraft initially held for 15 minutes at 9000ft, before making the landing attempt in low visibility, low ceiling and high winds. A photograph of the aircraft suggests that the left wing was completely destroyed, and the aircraft may be a rightoff.

The Air Canada A320 C-FTJP (AC624) touched down 1,100ft short of the runway, hitting the ILS antenna array and removing the main undercarriage, before sliding along the runway for a further 1,100ft, where an engine was ripped off the wing. There is significant damage to the underside of the aircraft.
