Default Planefinder.net

Can anyone tell me why Qantaslink flights and some others, I am comparing it with the webtrack sites, do not appear on planefinder. Are they using a different type of signal , as Rex flights and most other airlines appear. Thanks in advance, Glenn

Glenn, not all a/c are fitted with the full ADS-B kit. The full kit transmits, amongst other data, the a/c's lat & lon with the receivers can locate the a/c position and share that information on programs like Planefinder and PlanePlotter.

Most of the newer a/c have the equipment installed and you will be able to see them. The older models like some B737's are slowly being retrofitted. Others, because of age B767s etc., will become coke cans before their turn will come around. Not all of Rex's SAABs display their position. Qantaslink Dash 8s and Virgins E170 & E190 although fairly new don't give their location.

The only RAAF a/c that do are the two B737 VIP and the leased Beech Super King Airs. There are also a couple of GA a/c that show up occasionally.

The Webtrack works off a different system.

I have noted a BK117 helicopter VH-SLU appearing on ADS-B today , as well as a B300 VH-MVX .. the number of aircraft carrying the equipment is increasing .
