Thanks Grahame. Anyone have any idea how long it is in Sydney? Assuming it hasn't already departed.

John, Still no departure Flight Plan in the system yet at FlightAware and no departure picked up on our ADS-B.

An interesting evening to listen to Sydney ATC, with bad storms over the airport for the past few hours. ATC advised that there are no aircraft within 60nm of Sydney, and offered a jump to the head of the queue if and aircraft wanted to move in for a look and possible approach. CX139 was about to divert to Brisbane when they were given the option and they made it in successfully. The Thai 747 followed them in, however nothing much after that. Fiji has diverted to Brisbane, and a number of QF and VA aircraft have diverted to Melbourne and Brisbane. A Qantas Link dash 8 diverted to Williamtown and Hawaiian looks to have just diverted to Brisbane also. Curfew is the problem now, so it looks like that's it for this evening.

QF557, VA992, VA986 and JQ819 all diverted back to Brisbane, and JQ409, JQ429 and VA544 all diverted back to the Gold Coast. Toll Freight TFR21 had a go at an approach then aborted and returned to Brisbane.

JQ767 from Adelaide and QF845 from Darwin are holding off the coast at present, and an Air Ambulance just west of Williamtown - they are going to need to make a decision soon. VA897 from Melbourne is heading in now for a look, with the wind at 170 at 40-61kts.

QF494 and JQ528 both diverted back to Melbourne, and VA562 from Perth diverted to Melbourne also.

Emirates 414 looks to be heading for Brisbane, closely followed by QF566.

VA897 looks like they have decided to abort their look-see, and have turned south again over the Royal National Park, maybe back to Melbourne.

JQ767 have gone into Williamtown, and Ambulance 231 is going to do the same.

2256L B717 QF1525 just departed for Canberra, and VA989 is departing to Brisbane.

Loads of disrupted travel plans, and this was the reason why.
