Today's Thunderstorms
A short lived but strong storm front just passed through the Airport, with probably the loudest clap of thunder I have ever heard. ATC appeared to hold the
departures, although there were still a few arrivals ahead of the main front. The usual diversions started and it will probably take an hour or so to sort out. Plenty of lightening, thunder, and solid rain. Runway 34R as the storm front moved in close to the airport - departures on hold (range 4km) Runway 34L as the storm front moved in close to the airport - departures on hold (range 4.8km) Runway 34R at the height of the storm front - same aircraft still holding Runway 34L at the height of the storm front - same aircraft still holding And now to sort out the traffic !

20:12L Just noticed that QF822 VH-XZM from Melbourne to Canberra tracked via Merimbula. A second, and larger storm front is just tracking through Canberra as it approached from southwest of Nowra at FL250.
