Default Today's United departures - 17/5/10

Must of had trouble with one of the aircraft today as UA840 arrived into Sydney from Melbourne this afternoon, but its journey onto Los Angeles was later cancelled.

Flight UA9933 is showing up on the radar now, departing Sydney for San Francisco just after 6pm.
N199UA is the rego, I believe N171UA operated the SYD-MEL-SYD flight today.

UA840 was again cancelled today.

Currently (6pm local) there are 2 United a/c positioned at the remote stand on Gen Holmes Drive.
UA870 operated today, so what is the story behind the 2nd United aircraft in Sydney tonight?!?

Going by the lack of replies I assume there is nothing unusual about having 2 united aircraft spending the night in Sydney....or is it just old news?

cheers

Perhaps no one knows the reasoning so can't provide the answer you're looking for?

When I was leaving on QF528 for Brisbane yesterday, I saw two United 747's at the remote stand and one at the gate if this helps (about 1PM).

Thanks Nigel thought this may have been the case; although as a visitor to Sydney I was unsure whether or not it was a newsworthy event to report or just a backlog of some sort from Thursday's delays that all you 'locals' were already aware of.

Thanks Dave, I saw this departing flight UA870 as it was banking East over Sydney Harbour around 3pm-ish.

Thanks for clearing it up Blake.
Managed to get pretty average photo of 3/4 United aircraft this morning, shame I couldn't get one with all 4 in the same frame.

Cheers
