Any idea whose IL96, and the reason its down this way?

IL96 is Polet freight rego is RA-96103. 2nd of its type to Aus this year. Adelaide received RA-96102 earlier in the year.

Unsure of reason for it venture down under.

The "ban" on An-124's was lifted just last week (atleast on all VDA/ADB machines). Previously the flights would have had to of been of "national importance" (ie military or govt load)

Evening all,

Polet freight IL96 RA-96103 arrived in Adelaide around 2215. It will stay the night and is scheduled to depart at around 0930 tomorrow morning.

I have attached a phtograph of it parked at bay 27...

Here is a shot of the IL96 in Daylight. Taken at 0630 this morning. This photo is taken from the Long term car park at Adelaide Airport. Please excuse the stairs blocking the Nose...

Liam, is there a link available or a perhaps a press release? The DoTARS site appears to be void of any new announcements.

I hope so as well, but BOM says otherwise...

Friday 14 January Summary Min 21 Max 26 Shower or two. Metropolitan area Cloudy. Isolated showers until late afternoon. Winds northeasterly averaging up to 25 km/h increasing to up to 35 km/h during the morning.


Saturday 15 January Summary Min 21 Max 28 Partly cloudy. Metropolitan area Partly cloudy. Isolated showers in the west later in the day. Winds north to northeasterly averaging up to 25 km/h tending northeast to southeasterly up to 30 km/h during the evening.
